Why Fly By Jing is Unique

We spoke to Stephanie, a member of the Fly By Jing team and they shared a few unique things about the background of Fly By Jing and how its flavor/taste is created.

This came about because of a comment on our YouTube video claiming that Fly By Jing uses low quality ingredients and buzz words to promote their product, rather than high quality ingredients.

All of our ingredients are sourced purposely and proudly in Jing’s hometown of Chengdu and are considered all-natural and non-GMO. These are not easy classifications to get anywhere, and we are proud of our suppliers.

Growing or sourcing our ingredients elsewhere would create a completely different product with completely different flavor profiles. The ingredients used in our products are sourced from local (to our manufacturer) farms in the countryside of the Sichuan region.

Previously none of these ingredients had ever been exported to the US as there was no need because they are so prized, and due to their high quality and therefore high price – it was assumed that the US would never pay those prices due to the bigoted stereotype that everything from China needs to be cheap due to low quality.

Our products are small-batch made in Jing’s hometown by choice. It is actually not less expensive for us to manufacture in China, but these flavors and ingredients are personal to Jing and we are proud of where they come from.

As a side note, many of these AAPI brands will face the stereotype that everything from China needs to be cheap due to ‘low quality’. Fly By Jing is an example of one of many brands that produces high quality ingredients from China. Which brings us to the next question many people have.

Why is Fly By Jing So Expensive?

Fly By Jing uses all-natural and non-GMO ingredients from Chengdu. They’re carefully and intentionally sourced from that region in order to create a very specific flavor profile.

Sourcing these ingredients from China isn’t actually a cost-cutting measure. It’s to create a specific taste & flavor.

The price is reflective of the quality and care that goes into creating this chili crisp.

Fly By Jing Vs Momofuku

If you’re looking for a more fragrant, sightly numbing, with umami black beans chili oil, Fly by Jing is the ideal brand for you.

With its focus on quality ingredients, Fly by Jing’s chili oils are well-balanced with a complex flavor profile that makes it perfect to add to a variety of dishes. The brand offers a range of heat levels, so you can choose the one that best suits your preferences.

On the other hand, Momofuku Chili Crunch is ideal for those who like a crunchy and spicy condiment to add to their meals.

The brand offers three different flavor options, each with its own level of spiciness, making it perfect for those who like a bit of heat.

With its crunchy texture, Momofuku Chili Crunch is versatile and can be added to eggs, sandwiches, or even ice cream for a delicious crunchy and spicy twist.

However, it is best suited for dishes that have a sweeter taste, as the sweetness of the chili crunch seems to stand out the most.

Both are great versatile options that you can use on nearly everything.

So is Fly By Jing Worth It?

Yes, Fly By Jing’s Sichuan Chili Crisp is worth trying if you’re a fan of spicy, umami flavors with a nutty undertone.

This chili crisp is versatile and can be used on ice cream, noodles, pizza, eggs, salad, rice dishes, and dumplings.

It works exceptionally well with dumplings, making it a must-try for dumpling lovers.
