WHY YOU’LL LIKE OO’mämē Szechuan Chinese Chile Crisp
- It’s very crunchy, crispy. There’s dried garlic, shallots & Szechuan peppercorns. There isn’t an overpowering ‘numbing’ spice to it. It’s more subtle.
- It’s on the more ‘affordable’ side. At $7.99, it’s much cheaper than some of the other options out there.
- The umami “OO’mämē” side stands out with the fermented black beans, if you like that flavor, you’ll like this one.
- There’s a pretty solid ratio of oil to crisp
WHY YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE OO’mämē Szechuan Chinese Chile Crisp
- As previously mentioned, if you don’t like any sweetness to your chili oil or crisp, this one might not appeal to you. The crystalized ginger comes through quite a bit in pretty much every bite. It almost skews more towards sweet than spicy.
- If you don’t like things too crunchy. The crunchy bits are very prominent. They can also get stuck in your teeth.
- It’s not spicy enough for you. This is definitely on the milder side and there isn’t a strong numbing/tingling from the peppercorns.
OVERALL
It’s a good option if you like your chili crisp on the milder side and if you like or don’t mind sweetness in it.
